It’s a wonderful crochet hat that looks just like ribbed knitting!

In fact, you won’t believe this hat wasn’t knitted! If you’re a fan of crochet projects that have the texture and look of knitting and yet don’t require you to bring out your knitting needles, this pattern is perfect for you!

Yes, and what’s equally exciting is that you won’t have to hunt down multiple patterns and/or make the alterations all by yourself. This pattern has all sizes from 12-month old babies to toddlers to children all the way up to a large adult size. This is the perfect hat to make in multiples whether for gift giving or for craft fairs.

With basic stitches along with the two special stitch that gives the ribbed knitting effect, this hat is achievable for even for relative newcomers to crochet. And if you’re an experienced crocheter this is an easy pattern that’s perfect for when you want to multi-task or perhaps when you want to pick up something to crochet as you relax and watch your favorite TV series.

This wonderful and versatile pattern is free! It’s the “Side2Side Hat,” an original by designer Kinga Erdem of My Hobby Is Crochet. The pattern is so named after its construction which is not top to bottom, but from one side to the other. Each pattern for each size is written out separately which makes it easier to follow as you won’t have to navigate through brackets and/or parenthesis.

Kinga also gives you an excellent photo tutorial that will enable you to crochet the special stitches that gives that lovely ribbed knitted texture. Both are back-loop-only slip stitches; you’ll get the full rundown and many helpful pictures that will guide you to success!
